The Family Wisdom Conference will not be held in 2011. There are some ideas in the works to keep the FWC mission alive by offering monthly meetings about topics relating to parenting, birth, pregnancy, and health. So please stay tuned for updates regarding this, and look for Family Wisdom Conference to resume in full force in 2012. Thanks for your support!

Don’t miss the amazingly talented Chris Dorman and Steve Leaf in concert as they raise money for the annual Family Wisdom Conference! This is a very rare and special opportunity to see both musicians under one roof as Chris Dorman has recently moved with his family from Michigan to a farm in Vermont. Support a great cause while enjoying a one-of-a-kind musical experience! Tickets can be purchased for $10 at the door or $8 pre-sale at Higher Grounds and Oryana. Get your tickets before they sell out! For questions, or to reserve will call tickets please contact Sairy Franks at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Chris Dorman is both dreaming and living a dream shared by perhaps a small fraction of people living and working and playing and dreaming on this planet, a slice of the population striving to get back to, or forward to, a simple way of life in which it is possible to slow down, live true and begin again. This is the message on Dorman’s new release, To Begin Again, a hybrid of contemporary folk tunes merging grass roots instruments like banjo, harmonica and saw with instruments commonly associated with orchestras, such as cello and oboe. Songwriting is a natural medium for Chris to share what he feels, and he often writes about his own experiences. His live performances turn venues into living rooms and audiences to friends. www.myspace.com/chrisdorman
Steven Leaf is doing pretty well these days. Steven enjoys writing songs, some with words and some without. The words in Steven’s songs are sometimes intentional and sometimes cryptic. For the cryptic songs, Steven does apologize and he hopes you can bear with him. Steven has finally finished his first album entitled ‘We Are Ghosts’ which was met with acclaim by several critical listeners including his mother, close friend Mitchell and several other people that have asked to remain nameless. http://www.myspace.com/steveleafmusic. You can also catch him slaying audiences with his bass and banjo skills in the roots rock group Go Long Mule www.myspace.com/golongmule.
This is our 8th year of the Family Wisdom Conference and we are getting bigger and better every year! We have been working hard to provide Traverse City with a unique opportunity for parents, caregivers, and people of all walks of life to come together and gather the latest information in parenting, health, pregnancy, and childbirth. Whether you are an old friend who has attended year after year, or just checking us out for the first time, everyone who attends the 2010 conference will be sure to have a great experience. Stay tuned as we will update with more information about Conference 2010 as it is available.
